Mike Horsley - Managing Director

Mike is one of the three Partners who founded Wallace Hind in 1992. In 2008 Mike was asked by the team to take up the role of Managing Director. Mike is still actively involved in recruiting and he was delighted in 2012 to be made the exclusive recruitment partner to the PPMA. Outside of work Mike’s passion is reading, reading some more and when he’s not reading he’s being a father to 4 children and and recently became a grandfather.

Michael Thorpe - Consultant

Michael Joined Wallace Hind at the start of 2015 following 16 years of employment within Insurance and Finance. With experience of working as a successful sales, procurement and contracts manager and possessing a wealth of knowledge in public sector finance and procurement, he adds additional resource to Wallace Hind’s already expansive industry and sector knowledge base. He also brings a solid background in corporate and personal healthcare solutions and cost containment with him. Michael is married, loves to cook and enjoys live music of all varieties.

John Gowen - Founding Partner

John is a Founding Partner of Wallace Hind, establishing the company in 1992. John’s expertise lies in his ability to identify talent and build teams across a variety of middle to senior management functions and within a diverse range of markets. Over the last 22 years, he has grown an extraordinary base of clients who come back time after time to utilise his expertise. John is generous with his time, honest in his views and always focused on always doing what is in the best interest of his clients and candidates. A competitive rugby player and coach in times gone passed, that competitive streak still comes out in all he does, regardless of the task or goal. With both his boys now at University and with more personal time on his hands, what will he set his mind to? Whatever it is god help Julia and his friends.

Gerry Bell - Founding Partner

Gerry is one of the three founding partners of Wallace Hind, Gerry is experienced in recruiting mid to senior level professionals across a range of disciplines including Marketing, Sales, Operations, R+D, Technical and Production. Married for as long as he can remember with three children, he enjoys watching most sports but only playing golf now, he also enjoys getting to watch live music as well as attending many matches for the Saints and Cobblers.

Zoe Chatley - Managing Consultant

Zoe joined Wallace Hind in 2015 and brings over 10 years of recruitment experience with her. She specialises in recruiting Sales and Marketing professionals across the Technology Channel, recruiting for some of the biggest brands across IT hardware, software, consumer electronics, accessories and wearable technology. She has great experience recruiting right across the UK and Europe and adds real value to all her clients. On a personal note Zoe enjoys a good bottle of wine and baking loads of cakes!

Ian Peterson - Partner

Having been with the company since May 1999, Ian covers all market sectors, although having particular experience in recruiting Sales professionals for the Construction, Packaging and Inkjet Markets. Before working here, I had always sold advertising for a number of publications. In his spare time Ian plays golf, spends time with his family and he is a season ticket holder at Northampton Saints.

Tracey FitzGerald - Partner

Tracey has been with Wallace Hind since 1992. She has worked across the entire spectrum of mid to board level appointments in a range of different sectors. In her spare time she studies and has successfully completed her PG Degree in Human Resource Management, gained a CIPD and most recently has become a fully accredited Thomas International PPA, GIA and TEIQue practitioner.

Rod Plowe - Partner

Rod has been with Wallace Hind since 1993 and specialises in sales and sales management up to director level alongside non-sales roles when existing clients ask him to do it! Outside work Rod is married with 2 grown up boys aged 17 and 20. Rod plays golf, keeps fit(tish) gym, swim, run, sports betting, entering Dream Team football competitions and selected celebrity impressions and occasional partying.

Ian Lyons - Partner

Ian has been with Wallace Hind since 1999 and is the “The Grandad” at Wallace Hind with 28 years recruitment experience (but can still beat the youngsters at most things) he works across Sales, Marketing, Operational, Manufacturing, HR and Technical positions across a variety of markets including FMCG, Consumables, Healthcare, Electronics and all other sectors. In work “Mr Lyons” is a part time crooner and outside of work Ian is still trying to get to a single figure handicap.

Philip Monkman - Partner

Phil has been with Wallace Hind Since 2011 and has a wealth of experience in eCommerce, Marketing and Technical Supply Chain recruitment. Outside of work Phil’s time is taken up with entertaining his young son, walking the dog, keeping his wife happy, playing rugby in the winter and negotiating time to play cricket during the summer.

Matt Hogg - Partner

Managing Partner  As a partner in the business I have been with Wallace Hind since 2004, working my way through the ranks from consultant. Outside of work I am a family man, married with 2 girls, both of which seem to need me to play the part of taxi! When I get the time I enjoy all sports, spectating and taking part – a trying golfer who loves occasionally spending 4 or 5 hours in a less hectic environment. I am also a casual gym user in that I like to pay every month without actually ever going.

Jim Kelly - Associate Partner

Jim Kelly has 20 years experience within Recruitment Consultancy and has been part of the Wallace Hind team since 2003. Previously he worked for Adecco, MRI Network and Staffline Recruitment. Jim’s recruitment specialisms cover a spectrum of positions, from Sales & Marketing and Commercial; to Board-Level. Industry sectors include: Medical / Healthcare and Engineering. Jim’s interests relate to exercise and music (both playing and watching).

Victoria Salmons - Research Manager

Victoria has been with the business since 2012 and in a short space of time has been promoted to lead our internal resourcing team. A graduate in Geography and French, Victoria trained as recruitment consultant before choosing her path in the candidate sourcing arena. She has built up an impressive portfolio of successful out search campaigns across all sectors and disciplines. Outside of work Victoria enjoys travelling and experiencing new cultures and languages.

Stuart Platt - Managing Consultant

Stuart has been with Wallace Hind since 2008, he is a key member of the PPMA team. Working as the specialist and sole recruitment partner to the PPMA he has some excellent experience of the process and packaging machinery sector which has enabled him to gain a great deal of technical knowledge and build some excellent relationships. Outside of work in addition to watching movies, and playing modern board games he is a trained professional wrestler. An eclectic mix…

Paul Gallagher - Managing Consultant

I joined Wallace Hind in 2011. Having spent 3 years in Field Sales Management I decided that I wanted to return to the industry where my career began and recognised that Wallace Hind was the right company as they could offer personal progression. I particularly enjoy partnering with my clients and how this allows me to understand their needs, represent their company in a professional and competent manner and ultimately deliver a result. I have a broad range of experience in multiple sectors with a particular interest in Senior Level Sales and Marketing roles. My spare time is pretty much dominated by my 3 kids and their quest to drive me up the walls. When I’m not negotiating with them; I Coach kids U8s football and hold a position as a parent governor at my children’s school. Oh, and before all of this happened, I used to enjoy my own hobby, Golf!

Lee Henning - Managing Consultant

Managing Consultant Lee first joined Wallace Hind in 2009, having experienced our services as a successfully placed candidate and has now risen to become a Managing Consultant. Lee has been a professional recruiter for nearly 20 years and is a highly experienced member of the team. He has worked across a wide range of industry sectors from, Technology, Telecoms and IT through to Engineering, Education, Print and more. He is married and has two wonderful (because they are not yet teenage) daughters. In his spare time Lee can be found either building & riding custom motorbikes or off in the wilds with his family in their campervan.

Glen Brooke - Managing Consultant

Glen has been working in recruitment for over 12 years. For a number of years he has specilaised within the Retail and Exhibition Design sector. He has gained valuable experience working in Northampton, London, Milton Keynes and Sydney Australia, across a broad range of companies from SME’s to global organisations. On a personal level he once paid for two years Gym membership up front and attended a grand total of once! He much prefers good food, good wine, travelling and socialising.   

Julia Gowen - Web Manager

Julia has worked for Wallace Hind since 1999 and over the last 4 years she has taken on the role of Web Manager. Julia is responsible for ensuring all of our online talent attraction tools are consistently enhanced so that our client’s web advertising appears on the best web boards available and that their advertisements gain the best exposure. Out of work Julia enjoys exercising and being outside. I have completed two London marathons and recently completed the K2B challenge in The Lake District walking 40 miles in 1 day.

Tony Moroney - Managing Consultant

Tony has been with Wallace Hind Since 2010 and has 23 years experience recruiting into many different industries. Tony is part of our successful PPMA team placing sales and technical personnel at all levels. Outside of work Tony is a keen rugby fan and committee member of his local club. He also plays in a local brass band and a comedy jazz band.

Laura Preston - Resourcing Consultant

I have recently joined Wallace Hind as a Recruitment Resourcer where with my organisation skills and confident attitude, I hope to expand my knowledge in all market sectors and be an asset to the team. I left school with Performing Arts BTEC A Levels and knowing that University was not for me and realising I was too family orientated to move to London to try and start a career in music, I went straight into an administration role within the security industry. After spending 3 years there where I liaised with the Recruitment team on a daily basis, I knew I wanted to expand my knowledge and get myself into the recruitment industry.  Outside of work, I do love to sing (mainly karaoke) and I enjoy socialising with friends on nights out/weekends away. I also love to horse ride whenever I can and I always love going on a summer break. I also follow the Saints Rugby Team where I love to be in the atmosphere at the stadium. ​

Nick Marriott - Resourcing Consultant

Nick has recently graduated from Bangor University with a Sports Science degree and has joined Wallace Hind to build a career in recruitment. Nick will be part of our resourcing team searching and identifying talent across a range of disciplines. Outside of work Nick is very sporty person who likes to play and watch all sports; his main love however is football and he holds a season ticket for Northampton Town FC.

Jo Burden - Resourcing Consultant

Jo first joined Wallace Hind in 2006, before disappearing to Cornwall to live with her family, four years later she returned to Wallace Hind and is an integral part of our resourcing and talent identification team. Outside of work Jo enjoys spending time with her daughters, who occupy her time with horse riding, Brownies, swimming lessons and the general taxiing around.
