Buying Manager - Retail

A Buying Manager is needed for this award winning National Retailer to work within their Procurement division based at their London Office. If you are passionate about buying within a fast paced innovative environment, this is the perfect role for you.

SALARY: £45,000 - £50,000 plus up to 50% bonus

JOB SPECIFICATION: Buying Manager - Retail

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful national retailer to play a pivotal role within their Procurement team. The position will work closely with the Head of Buying to manage and develop one of the company’s major product categories. Consequently, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

-        Creating and driving forward purchasing strategies by negotiating the most competitive terms possible
-        To attend conferences at trade meetings and other business events providing valuable competitor insight
-        Monitor trends, market pricing and identify new markets and product opportunities
-        To work and develop close working relationships with relevant departments such as Merchandise Planning, Marketing, Operations, Ecommerce and Finance.
-        To specialise and become an expert in your category, becoming the central point for stakeholders to approach
-        To produce weekly and periodical promotions in line with company objectives

REQUIREMENTS: Buying Manager - Retail

In order to be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have the following:

-        A proactive and willing attitude, with strong and persuasive personality to influence all levels of business both verbally and in writing  
-        Strong organisational skills often working towards stringent deadlines
-        Able to understand and interpret complex data quickly and accurately and relay insightful information to relevant stakeholders
-        Experience in commercial negotiation, with some formal training preferable but not essential
-        At least two years’ experience working within a general buying role within the retail industry is essential, with some experience of Far East product sourcing being beneficial
-        Proficient in using Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
-        Educated to degree level
