Are you an experienced Business Development Manager, who can develop new and existing business for the sale of technically engineered products and systems? Would you like to build on the work of the current BDM who is retiring this year? This is a genuinely existing opportunity to work across multiple industry sectors including: Construction, Marine, Defence, Power Generation and Industrial Engineering. You can be home-based, or office based in Kent. Your choice.
SALARY: £40,000-£50,000 dependant on your experience

LOCATION: Home-based or office based with customer travel. You would usually be expected to come into the office 1 or 2 days per fortnight.
COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Most areas of Kent and London via car or train, but as this role can be home based, your location is less important. That said you must be prepared to travel to the office usually 1 day a week if you are in the UK.

JOB SPECIFICATION: Business Development Manager
Product: Anti-vibration and shock isolation products. 90% of time there will be an immediate product offering on the shelf. 100’s of existing core products in the company catalogue. Immediate product sales can be tied up in days, product and systems order value can range from £40-£150K depending on the size of solution needed. Some sales cycles for a solution-based offering can be a lot longer and up to 1-2 years for bigger projects
Markets supplied into: Marine, Defence, Construction, Industrial, Power Generation in the UK & Europe & further if needed
Business Development Manager Job: Develop new business and develop existing and historical customers - 50/50 split on new business and account management
· Self-generation of leads through existing and new customers
· Up-sell existing customers, follow up direct enquiries, revisit historical customers for more leads etc
· Networking – attend exhibitions and trade shows
· Find, visit and develop new distributors in the UK, Europe and Asia
· Identify through research, new geographical locations and markets to target
REQUIREMENTS: Business Development Manager
You will be educated to at least an HNC in Mechanical or Marine Engineering; ideally degree educated so you can offer a technical solutions/applications level offering to customers.
YOU MUST HAVE:
· A proven Business Development background with the sale of technically engineered products and solutions/applications sales
· Sold products and solutions into relevant industry sectors such as: Defence, Marine, Rail, Construction, Power Generation or Industrial
· Experience of a cost model for margin-based products and solutions sales
· The ability to work remotely or office based; whilst being self-sufficient, dynamic and proactive in your business development
· Been used to traveling internationally for work – some day trips, some up to 1-2 weeks
Relevant technically engineered products could include but not only limited to: anti-vibration products/systems, shock isolation products, acoustics, seals, brackets, shock absorbers, noise suppression systems, expansion joints, mountings or any other elastomer-based products
Fluency in a second European language would be advantageous, but is not essential
Established over 100 years ago with a strong brand name in their industry sector, this organisation is a market leader in the design & manufacture of anti-vibration and shock isolation products.
It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: business development, account manager, sales manager, sales engineer, applications, anti-vibration products, anti-vibration systems, shock isolation, acoustics, seals, brackets, shock absorbers, noise suppression systems, expansion joints, mountings, bearings or any other elastomer-based products
