This is an end to end Category Marketing Role including being part of the sourcing and buying process.

SALARY: £35,000 - £45,000

JOB SPECIFICATION: Category Marketing Manager / Senior Category Buying Manager / Buying Manager – Retail

Reporting to the Director of Category and Buying, you will be the commercial leader in understanding category portfolios marketing and buying margins. As well as having the strategic mind to implement NPD projects and ranges. You will support margin improvement through commercial supplier negotiations and tactical product procurement in line with the UK retail and on-line strategy. The role requires a first class communicator to manage numerous stakeholders.

You will be responsible but not restricted to the following tasks:-

·Create a strategy for each category based on internal data, customer insight and external market information.
·In-line with the wider business category strategy, complete reviews to the agreed time scale, identify product range requirement, implement new category and product range plans and create a compelling customer offer with a competitive advantage.
·New product development and range review process enabling category growth and removal where appropriate.
·Monitor competitor activity and pricing to ensure brand and product positioning is optimised.
·Control supplier negotiations to maximise margins / profits on all categories.
·Accurately forecast volumes on all new, promotional and successful products.
·Manage the stock control team in providing information and analysis to assess levels of slow moving & dormant stock and work with the team to clear.
·Work with the marketing team to maximise the success of the category and promotional activity through a multi-channel retail environment.
·Work with merchandising and POS to increase own brand sales volumes.
·Seasonally promotion development and Management.
·Work with Supplier base to develop an Innovative and profitable product ranges to meet anticipated demand of the customer and improve the commercial performance of the category.
