A world leading manufacturer of precision detectors, nuclear instrumentation and analysis software has a superb opportunity for an ambitious, articulate and solutions orientated Field Sales Engineer looking to move into external sales covering Southern UK & Ireland.

SALARY: £35,000 - £40,000

BENEFITS: OTE £42,000 - £48,000 Car Full Benefits Package

LOCATION: Wokingham

Working as part of a small, but highly skilled team of UK and EMEA sales professionals, candidates can choose to be based at the UK Head Office in Wokingham or from home.

JOB SPECIFICATION: Field Sales Engineer - Southern UK & Ireland

We are seeking a consultative, solutions-based business developer to take responsibility for managing and supporting our regional & key account sales channels within the nuclear power, defence, academia & nuclear weapons industries.

REQUIREMENTS: Field Sales Engineer - Southern UK & Ireland

  • Degree qualified in Physics, Chemistry or Electronic Engineering
  • Comfortable working within the nuclear industry
  • Ideal candidate will have gained sales experience in a similar or related field, however, candidates applying with a technical background from an associated industry with a desire to move into sales will also be actively encouraged
  • Able to understand complex customer needs with the ability to provide appropriate product solutions
  • Ability to establish long term working relationships with a wide variety of customers: Engineers, Chemists, Physicists, Health & Safety, Academics, Geologists, Archaeologists, Government Departments
  • Ability to produce accurate and well-presented tender documentation
  • Process driven, detail and solutions orientated
  • Strong effective decision making, organisational and time management skills
  • Wide range of negotiating and influencing skills, personable with a professional consultative approach

The Sales Engineer role will appeal to candidates who can:

  • Identify and contact prospective customers via telephone, email, on-site visits and exhibitions
  • Generate quotations optimised to customer need, budget and competition to sell the range of technical products and achieve targets
  • Generate and manage the forecast for the assigned territory
  • Provide technical support and solutions for a wide range of specialist customers across: nuclear power, defence, universities and the nuclear weapons market sectors
  • Travel to customer sites and exhibitions estimated at >50%
