As a multimillion precision engineering SME, we pride ourselves on delivering bespoke, low volume and batch machined components to the Aerospace, Medical and Motorsport sectors. With a heritage spanning over 70 years and an enviable portfolio, we are specialists in fine limit work; machining exotic materials to within high tolerances.

The last 12 months has been an exciting chapter of our journey; with a new Managing Director realigning the business, allowing new markets to be entered, customer relations to be strengthened and invigorating our team of experienced and skilled engineers.

With an ambitious strategy to support driving forward the business we need a ‘hands on’ Manufacturing Manager with a sharp eye for quality and the appetite to drive high levels of OTIF delivery. You will naturally be a leader someone who coaches and develops their team whilst inspiring them to have the sight to innovate and continuously improve.

MAIN DUTIES: Manufacturing Manager - CNC Milling

  • Leading a team of 30 skilled engineers across a double day shift within a bespoke CNC machining workshop (50 machines: Milling, Turning, Grinding and Fitting)
  • Planning and scheduling of bespoke, low volume and batch work, ensuring availability of resources and materials for OTIF delivery.
  • Developing your team through coaching, mentoring and personal plans.
  • Observing and innovating new processes to drive efficiencies, high levels of safety, quality, reliability and functionality.
  • Reducing and maintaining low scape / waste volumes.
  • Supporting the integration of new equipment and processes on budget and to deadline.
  • Investigating all non-conformances, establishing root cause and implementing corrective & preventative measures.
  • Uphold rigorous housekeeping controls in line with our company and industry requirements.

This role will challenge you, driving through an agreed change strategy requiring you to change the minds of experienced skilled engineers; introducing new methods, processes and structures.

REQUIREMENTS: Manufacturing Manager - CNC Milling

Ultimately you will already have a proven track record of successfully managing a multi skilled engineering workforce within a CNC machined component manufacturer. It is likely you will be from a precision engineering background within Aerospace, Pharmaceutical, Automotive, Defence, Marine, Medical or Motorsport.

As well as:

  • Being skilled in the use of CNC multiaxis milling machine centres up to .0033 microns tolerances. Any turning, lathe or grinding knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A robust, ‘hands on’ management style.
  • Demonstrating strong CNC programming skills in languages such as Fanuc, G-code, Python, Mcode. We have a variety of machines within our operation (such as HAAS, Doosan, Hurco, Citizen, Okuma, Hardinge) and therefore do not expect you to have the knowledge of all, however the ability and desire to learn will be essential.
  • Displaying effective people management skills, someone who can motivate, coach and lead their teams.
  • Having a sharp eye, understanding when and how to implement continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety, Quality Systems standards and compliance (ISO 9001/ AS9100 desirable)

Although not a prerequisite any knowledge of turning, grinding in fine limit work with exotic materials would be of interest but you might just be comfortable with stainless steel.
