Based in Dartford, we’re seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a demonstrable portfolio of Product Design & Development and who has the potential / desire to very quickly become the Manager of our Design Engineering team. Ideally, you’ll come from a metal, glass, aluminium or plastic forming background but large-scale engineering projects with a strong design aesthetic are of interest too.
SALARY: £30,000 - £40,000

JOB SPECIFICATION - Mechanical Product Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Product Design Engineer you will be responsible for leading multiple projects, from cradle to grave. As well as using your hands-on product design experience to continue the ongoing development of our unique range of physical security solutions, you also will work closely with our blue-chip clients to design and build bespoke solutions, tailored to their exacting needs.
You will also be given the opportunity to grow into the Manager of our Engineering team so your time is likely to be split 70% on Mechanical Product Design and 30% mentoring others in your team. Your responsibilities will include:
·Hands on Mechanical Product design.
·Full project lifecycle management, from inception to delivery.
·Maintenance and control of technical documentation.
·Ensuring all solutions are correctly specified, designed and tested, taking into account current standards and legislation.
·Provide pre-sales technical advice / support.
·Work to exacting specifications that take account of form, fit and function whilst being mindful of budgets, costs and deadlines.
You will also provide regular project progress updates and reports to the Senior Management team.
PERSONAL PROFILE - Mechanical Product Design Engineer
You MUST be a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer with a proven track record of product design and development.
You MUST have 3D modelling software knowledge – Inventor is preferred but cross-over training will be given and any ERP experience is desirable, we use EFACS but again full training will be provided.
You may be currently managing a team OR be ready to move into a fully-fledged management position but either way, attitude and potential are more vital.
In addition, you will be used to working on simultaneous projects in metal, glass, aluminium or plastic forming and be able to get to our Dartford HQ on a daily basis.
