How Wallace Hind helped a premium industrial tools and workwear manufacturer identify high-calibre field sales talent despite salary constraints.
The Problem
The client operated within a rigid basic salary structure that sat at a low to medium level for the market. Their commission scheme was also capped, making it difficult to attract proven sales professionals already working in the industrial tools and workwear sector.
The challenge was clear: the business needed fresh sales talent, but a traditional search focused only on direct industry experience was unlikely to deliver the quality required within the available package.
The Solution / What We Did
Wallace Hind built a campaign that tested both routes. We ran two adverts across the major job boards: one aimed at experienced sales candidates, and another positioned as a Trainee Field Sales Executive role, aligned to the client’s Field Sales Support Executive requirement.
This approach gave the client access to both established market candidates and ambitious trainee-level applicants. It also allowed us to assess ability, drive and long-term fit, rather than relying only on sector experience or an existing track record.
The Result
- The campaign generated over 1,600 responses across the two adverts.
- The client interviewed six candidates from the shortlist.
- Two candidates progressed to second interview.
- One candidate was offered the role, with a second candidate strong enough to be considered for a future vacancy within three to six months.
