Challenge
In addition to the specific qualification required, the main hurdle was the geography of the role. This problem existed as the role was based in a rural location on the outskirts of a south coast town. The catchment area of the potential candidates was deemed to be quite small, and underpopulated so individual alerts in the local areas would not be able to return a suitable candidate pool.
Solution
Understanding the culture of the business was crucial, as the client has a small team, and the candidate’s ability to ‘fit in’ was vital to ensure a successful outcome for both parties – in this instance, the right personality was almost more important than the professional experience.
After meeting with the client, the decision was made to structure the advert for the job boards, in manner that would appeal to the scientific community to try and ensure the correct calibre of candidates were attracted to the opportunity, whilst consideration of a possible commute or even relocation were factored in.
The Results
An advertisement campaign produced an excellent end result with the client being exceptionally impressed with the process. They admitted it was the easiest recruitment that they had partaken in, saving them time and ultimately money, when the right hire was made.
